Between our club and the Rotary Club of Ballarat West, we managed to raise over $2,800 for the Leukemia Foundation. Fantastic effort!

Murray to Moyne Ride – March 2010

Several of our members and/or family members braved the 24 hour – 520km, Murray to Moyne team cycle relay event last weekend (27 & 28 March). Both our riders and support crew arrived home safely, if a bit sleep deprived. I’m sure the few quiet ones enjoyed on the way home went down nicely.

Congratulations to our riders Bel and Ross (especially Ross on achieving 300 kms!) Congrats also to Luke’s better-half, Bek for also riding. A special mention to our support crew, Luke for driving and Troy for retrieving our valuable missing items (namely our tent poles!).

Murray to Moyne Dinner – March 2010

Another successful Murray to Moyne Dinner, raising much needed funds for the Leukemia Foundation. This year’s guest speaker, Phil Anderson, gave us an insight into his days of riding in the tour de france.

In 1981 Phil was the first non-European cyclist to wear the coveted leaders yellow jersey in the Tour de France. He came fifth in 1982, in which he won the white jersey of best young rider, and fifth again in 1985.

Many thanks to Ross Huntington who, together with the RC of Ballarat West, organised this fantastic night.

SpringFest Market Sunday – Hole in One is back (1 Nov 09)

The Hole-in-One is back! After a short hiatus, we will again be running the Hole-in-One at SpringFest Market Sunday. It’s the one and only opportunity to hit a golf ball into a floating ‘hole’ on Lake Wendouree. With great prizes on offer and all for charity, we’re in for another great day!

WorldSkills Competition – Volunteer Support (Aug 09)

WorldSkills Australia is an organisation that conducts skill competitions in over 52 trade and skill areas. This year many of the competitions were held in conjunction with the University of Ballarat’s Open Day on Sunday 30 August @ the SMB Campus.

YA members supported the event through providing a bbq lunch for competitors and photographing the various competitions. Young Ambition is proud to be support WorldSkills Australia.

This year’s changeover was full of the usual zany pre-dinner fun, as well as a relaxed dinner. The winners of the pre-dinner challenges (the Odd-Balls), were very pleased with their win and their slightly pre-used trophy (the runner-up trophy from our 2008 beach volleyball team!).

Donation to Very Special Kids – April 09

At this year’s Rotary 9780 District Conference, Young Ambition ran a ‘Ute of Loot’ fundraiser, in which every club in the district was challenged to raise as much loose change as they could. We are pleased to announce that not only did Young Ambition raise the most $$$ per capita (member), but also the greatest total amount. $3,000 was raised in total.

We were delighted to be able to present a donation of $1,500 to the two nominated beneficiaries: the local branch of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Very Special Kids.

Supporting the 3BA Christmas in July Appeal – July 08

Our members got behind the 3BA Christmas in July Appeal by donating blankets and non-perishable food items. All donations go towards those in need this winter. Donations can be made at 56 Lydiard St Nth Ballarat.

Trivia Night 2008 – Another Hit

The annual Young Ambition Trivia Night and Charity Auction was another very successful event on Friday 25 July. This year the event supported Ballarat Foundation’s Back to School Voucher Program. The program provides greatly needed support to Ballarat students in need of financial assistance.

A special thank you goes to Sarah Knowles, event coordinator, for all the time and energy she put into making the evening run without a hitch!
